COFRET presented a poster and associated paper on the issues surronding harmonisation of carbon footprint methodologies for freight transport at the TRA (Transport Research Arena) in Paris. The TRA paper can be accessed here. (The poster is desigend to be viewed at A0 and so is not suitable for download.)
The workshop is intended to inform attendees from both the research and industry sectors about progress in assessing and harmonizing the wide variety of existing methods currently being used to calculate the carbon footprint of supply chains covering different freight transport modes and operation types in different international regions and the arrangements proposed to continue to develop an internationally harmonized approach in the future.
Progress to date of the COFRET project was presented by Daniel Diekmann of Technical University of Dortmund at WCTR (World Conference on Transport Research). The presentation can be downloaded here
Carbon Footprint Monitoring in the Supply Chain: Current Standards and Emerging Practices

IATA is organizing its annual World Cargo Symposium in Doha, Qatar from 12th to 14th March. The theme of this year’s event is Action for Sustainability and for the first time, there will be 1 full day dedicated to environmental issues (on 13th March), including the measurement and reporting of CO2 emissions.
The Green Freight Europe initiative is organisaing an 'open day' on 4th December.
The programme includes several interactive workshops in which member companies share knowledge of best practices and initiatives, and where companies have the chance to receive more information on their specific field of interest. The day will conclude with a visit to the distribution centre of Post NL.
The Better Air Quality conference will be held in Hong Kong from 5 to 7 December 2012. This is Asia's primary event to discuss issues and solutions linked to air quality.
